Your New Years Resolutions - Be Careful With Weight Loss and Bras

As we leave 2008 behind and head into a glorious new year, you have undoubtedly done your duty. What duty is that? Why, you've come up with some optimistic New Year's resolutions.

As a nation, we carry a lot of heft - literally. The weight loss industry is a multi-billion dollar one as we all strain to lose those extra pounds. One of the most popular New Year's resolutions falls in this theme as we swear we will eat right, exercise more and lose weight in the coming year. Ironically, we tend to do this while drinking alcohol and partying the night away, but I digress.

For women, the weight loss resolution can become an expensive mistake. If you would like to lose a few extra pounds, please have at it and I hope you are successful. That being said, you might want to hold off on buying clothing in smaller sizes until you are sure that you can meet your goals.

For some reason, women often buy smaller bras when trying to lose weight. I am not sure why, but there is some thought that it has to do with the fact breasts are very fatty. You've probably noticed you don't see a lot of female marathoners with size Cs unless, of course, they've been down to the office of the local cosmetic surgeon. If you lose weight, your breasts will decrease in size. When this occurs, of course, you'll need new bras. The key, of course, is the "when this occurs" part of that sentence.

As you full well know, bras are not cheap. A beautiful, nice, expensive bra is useless if it just sits in your closet and is never used. Some women trying to lose weight buy smaller bras as a form of motivation. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it does not. If it doesn't, that is one expensive mistake you have sitting in the closet.

The other reason you should not buy bras in anticipation of weight loss has to do with fit. No two bras fit alike. Also, not two breasts will reduce in size the same amount. This combination can mean you end up with smaller breasts when you lose weight, but ones that don't fit your new, expensive bras and that is just a waste of money.

New Year's resolutions are great ideas, but I have to admit I've failed in meeting most of them. If you are committing to losing weight in 2009, then good for you. I hope you make your goals, but suggest you hold off on buying expensive new clothes until you are sure that will be the case.

Bras in 2009 - Giving Yourself a Second Glance

The beauty of life is we get a new year every 365 days. No matter how much you messed up the last one, you get a clean sheet every January 1st! This change over also gives you an opportunity to consider whether your body has changed and you need to adjust your clothing accordingly.

When considering your body, there are many factors to contemplate. Time is generally not our friend. Gravity can really take a toll, but so can weight gain and such. The key is to be realistic about your body type, the changes that have occurred and what to do in light of them. These changes are particularly prevalent when we discuss your bras.

The first step to take is to gather up all your bras. Inspect each one closely. What kind of condition are they in? If the stitching is failing or threads are falling off, it is time to ditch them. Make sure to inspect the elastic closely. An otherwise perfect bra can become a problem when the elastic starts to go. If you wear older bras with wear and tear, you are not doing yourself any favors. Ditch them. You'll get to shop for new ones!

Sizing our new bras is the next big issue. When was the last time you admitted your bra size changed? If it has been more than a few years, you really need to take another look at yourself. Weight loss or increase can have a big effect over the years. Gravity can be even worse. I can almost guarantee that your size from five years ago is utterly wrong today, particularly when it comes to cup size. Take the time to get the right fit! To this end, consider consulting with a bra expert to get a professional fitting.

Now the fun part - shopping! There are a wide variety of bra brands, styles and materials. The fact you didn't like something five years ago doesn't mean much of anything today. Times change and so does your body. Try everything. You are looking for those few products that are perfect. Once you have them, you can buy multiples of each and be set for a year or two. Take your time and be thorough.

Once you nail down the products you like, don't buy them. Instead, go home and jump on the web. Online bra sites do not have the overhead of a brick and mortar store, so they sell bras cheaper. You should also only shop at sites that give you free shipping regardless of the size of your order. Given the price of bras these days, this approach will save you some serious cash.

2009 is upon us. What better time is there for you to buy some new bras?!

The Origin of the Bra

Despite the fact, doubted by some, that the bra is not a necessity in keeping a woman's breasts firm and uplifted, bras originated in one form or another, centuries ago..

Minoan women athletes of 700 BC have been depicted wearing a bra like garment to restrain and cover their breasts and the women of other civilizations are known to have worn bras like undergarments for a variety of reasons.

From the Middle Ages, through to the earlier part of the twentieth century, women of wealth wore corsets that tended to push the breasts, and in Georgian times, in the 1700s to the mid 1800s, it was considered the height of fashion to expose uplifted breasts with prominent cleavage and to just cover the nipples.

Queen Victoria soon put paid to that and although the style of corsets still pushed up the breasts, they remained decorously covered.

Into the 1920s, the fashion was to restrain the breasts, flappers of the time considered that the flatter the chest the more sex appeal they had, and their men must have agreed - but when did they have a choice?

Although there was a movement towards designing bras as we know them today, around the latter years of the nineteenth century, the first patent for a brassiere was only given to a Mary Phelps Jacob in November 1914.

The word brassiere is derived somewhat indirectly from the French "bras" meaning arms with an earlier military association to mean arm protector that then was developed into a chest protector.

In English the first known reference to the word occurred around 1893 with manufacturers going on to use the term to describe derivations of the corset that provided support for female breasts.

The ultimate fashion magazine "Vogue" first mentioned the term brassiere on its pages in 1907, and by 1911 the Oxford English Dictionary awarded the word its final accolade of acceptance into the English language.

The advent of the First World War held up the development of the brassiere as a fashion garment just as a similar situation took place during and just after World War II. A possible explanation is that in both wars women of all classes had to take over so many of the menial tasks performed by men that sex appeal was not on their list of priorities.

The shortened term "bra" came into use in the early thirties as the undergarment became affordable and gained popularity with all classes.

After 1945 the bra became one of the top priorities in the world of fashion, allowing the top couturiers to design fashion wear from topless evening dresses to any number of other day and evening wear apparel emphasizing the silhouette.

Without this progress in bra design, the bikini would never have happened, women might still have had to suffer the restraints and discomforts of corsets to give their bodies a desirable shape.

Nature has and continues to take its course; women who want to retain their sex appeal do not have to suffer in the same way as their grandparents.

As for men, they have never had it so good, the media and peer pressures have opened their eyes to some of the fabulously beautiful and attractive women that abound in the world and they expect their sweethearts and wives to strive to look just as gorgeous.

Wear Red to Greet the New Year

Well 2008 has come to a close in some countries as of this time. Through out the globe people are performing all kinds of special tricks to bring their new year goals.

In Japan the longer the noodle the more money you will bring in. In other Countries it is customary only to eat round food, i.e. grapes, oranges, etc. Fish brings luck for some thinkers.

Wearing RED all day on New Year's Eve is an old Italian Custom to Bring Prosperity, Verility, Money, and Happiness. What do you have to wear and where is not important - just that you wear something red. Most Italians wear red underwear. Italians like to eat Lentils on New Year's Eve. The lentils are shaped round similar to coins. The more coins you eat the more money will come your way in the new year. How do you prepare and wear do you buy lentils? Cook some up in Chicken Broth while it's cold outside you can share Champagne, lentil Soup and wear your red.

Why not keep the tradition longer through the year and bring those Customs to your undergaments "red" and while you think and dream of Happiness. It would be like a self fulfilling prophecy.

This year we need all the help we can get. Red is the only color most men can make out because we are told they are color blind.

Studies have shown all women look younger in red. (Maybe even skinny.)

If you happen to follow this custom give me some feedback how it works for you.

Your Ever Changing Bra Size

Breasts are a pain in the derriere! Well, at least metaphysically. The problem? We always are dealing with sizing and fitting issues in an effort to come up with a bra that fits us comfortably.

Sometimes, it seems like finding a bra that fits perfectly is impossible. Various studies have shown that a majority of women are walking around in brassieres that simply do not fit. How can this be? Are we idiots? No, we just are confronted with an incredibly complex problem. Not only does our bra size change through the years, it changes throughout the month!

You go bra shopping on the 10th of the month. You know the ins and outs of bra sizing. You are fully aware that bottom band of the bra should provide 80 percent of the lifting capacity while the straps only provide 20 percent. You know how to size your cup so that you have plenty of support without excessive squeezing. You try on many different bras and come up with the perfect one. Out comes the credit card and you are the proud owner of five of these perfect bras.

Now we fast forward another two weeks. It is the 25th. You are getting ready for a night out and pull out one of the new bras for the first time. Hey, it's hard to get rid of those older, comfortable bras! When you put on the new bra, it seems tight. Have you twisted the band? No. What is going on?!

The problem is your breasts have increased in size. This is a natural process that occurs as you approach your period. The issue is estrogen and progesterone increase in the body. The glands in your breasts will increase in size and water retention will increase. The end result are breasts that are bigger and a brand new [and expensive] bra that doesn't fit despite your best shopping efforts. How unfair is that?

So, is there anything you can do to fight this problem? The obvious strategy used by millions of women is to buy a set of larger bras for this period of natural enlargement. Since your breasts are continually changing sizes, you can't get a perfect fit. I generally try to buy for the biggest size. Yes, it is a bit big at times, but I don't really mind since sensitivity is an issue and I prefer more room to being squeezed. You might feel differently, so just try different options till you find one that works.

Buying bras can be a never ending process sometimes. This is particularly true given the sizing changes we go through every month. Ultimately, there isn't a lot we can do about it other than to build up a small arsenal of bras for each and every situation. Such is life.

Satin Panties Are the Way to Go

Many woman think that though satin panties look attractive they are extremely uncomfortable. They like the look of them but feel the pros of satin underwear are far exceeded by the cons.

Its absolutely not so. Like many items you can buy you get what you pay for. If you want to buy the cheapest panties that you can find then they are going to feel more ridged and like cardboard.

If you buy quality satin undergarments they will feel great and usually leave no visible panty lines that most woman try to avoid.

If you are trying to spice things up with your partner or want to feel more confident and sexy then you should definitely try them. Just having them on will give you a boost of confidence.

Purchase a pair of white satin panties and watch your husband or boyfriend's face light up. It will be as though you bought him an early Christmas present. He will forget about the game he was watching or thinking about watching. All of a sudden it can wait. He will be thinking about what you are wearing.

White and black ones are usually the most common. They both are sexy yet will imply different things. White satin panties are very feminine while black satin panties usually convey a more dominate, less graceful, yet equally sexy look to them.

Victoria's Secret has a vast array of beautiful panties that you can buy. Its recommended that you go to their website and see what they have available. But in all reality you will be paying more for the name. Most of the major department stores in almost every city in America will have a section for you to buy satin panties. They are a little bit harder to find now than ten years ago but they are still there.

You can always go back to the cotton panties. Give satin material a try. One note of caution. While not uncomfortable the material satin panties are made from do not allow a lot of breathing room for your skin. Its nice to take a break from satin panties every several days to allow your skin to breath. That is the only con I can see in them. Try them and add a new sensation and experience in your life.

The Season of Love

The Season of Love is upon us. This is a time when people seem to feel more comfortable in expressing themselves romantically. Suddenly the "special" lingerie comes out of the depths of the dresser and flowers and chocolates are offered to soften the heart and heighten the senses.

People seem more relaxed with their emotions and ready to express themselves physically in one way or another. Whether it's a stolen kiss, a gentle caress or the offer of flowers or a sweet treat it's all the same language. Translated into North American English it all means, I care about you and want to be close, do you feel the same way?

Valentine's Day or week or season was a great invention. It invites the world to look at each other through eyes of love, romance and passion. It gives those who are otherwise too shy, a chance to reach out with a little more confidence - after all it's Valentine's and you are supposed to be romantic. This is a way to see if it's reciprocal without having to really wear your heart on your sleeve and it's easier to laugh off rejection without feeling foolish as many people are reaching out in the same way.

Valentine's actually aids nature and the survival of the human race....really! It takes place at the time of year when it's very cold in many places, so it keeps us warm and in many circumstances it helps in keeping the planet populated (maybe not quite as productive as New Years or a winter blackout, but good just the same).

If you have lingerie hiding away just waiting for Valentine's - let it see the light of day, make sure it's clean and fresh (and fits to full advantage).  Don't wait for the season of Love to wear your lingerie and strut your stuff - it's good all year round. The Season of Love isn't a season - it's Life! In Every Day there is time to touch, caress and let someone know you love them. What greater gift can you give than your love?

To those of you who don't have any sexy lingerie - GET SOME...go...now...really, go buy yourself some curve enhancing, eye popping, sweat rolling sexy lingerie...go now...why are you still reading this...run fast...

For instance, if you are used to wearing simple sexy panties and night shirts, then opt for something that bites with sexiness such as wearing leopard print panties or lingerie outlined in sexy fur. You can also allude your sexiness with baby doll lingerie or totally blow your man's mind with a sexy police lingerie complete with handcuffs. Making the most of exotic lingerie can surely bring back your dwindling bedroom time to an alive and kicking part of the day.

Showing off the way you can please him is one sure thing to make him come after you more. Exotic lingerie is not only a surefire way to make things more alive in the bedroom but it is also one way to bond relationships closer. Matching Bras to Your Outfit

It goes without saying that not every bra should be worn with every outfit. After all, one would look a bit odd wearing a sports bra with a little black dress. While this is an obvious mistake, the matching of bras and outfits is often a more subtle affair.

The first goal of a bra is to provide support to the breasts. The second goal is to provide this support in a comfortable way. The third goal is more subjective - to mold the breast into a certain shape for a certain activity. For example, a sports bra tends to push the breast up and then hold them firmly against the chest wall to minimize the impact of vigorous exercise. Let's take a look at other bras you might wear for a specific look.

The staple bra of your wardrobe should be the full coverage bar. Support is paramount with this bra and it should fit your breasts naturally. This is not a bra used to enhance a specific look, but is the basis upon which your bra collection is built.

The balconette bra should also be a staple of any woman's wardrobe, but it is often overlooked. This bra is perfect for women who are looking for cleavage enhancement that is subtle, but definitive. The balconette bra goes well with low cut tops, but not versions showing a lot of shoulder.

The racerback bra is another overlooked bra. This bra provides a ton of support, but is perfect for sleeveless tops. These seemingly conflicting benefits are achievable because the racerback bra uses a "x" type strap configuration across the back. Instead of the straps rising vertically from the cup area, they angle inwards towards the neck and then cross in the back of the bra. The bra clips closed or is opened in the front between the cups.

An incredibly versatile bra that must be in your collection is the strapless bra. Although called strapless, we are really talking about the version that has clip on straps. You can wear the bra without straps if your evening attire consists of an open shoulder dress. Alternatively, you can add one or both straps at angles as needed to make a bra fit a particular unique outfit.

The sports bra is another bra you need. If you are going to be exercising, make sure you wear it. Vigorous exercise does a number on breasts over time. Breast lifts are expensive and always seem to look a bit odd. Avoid them by protecting your breasts when exercising whether that be at the gym or just going for a hike. As you age, you'll be happy you did so.

Finally, you need a slinky bra. This bra has no purpose other than to be worn for special intimate occasions. The bra you buy is entirely subjective, but see thru, plunging bras and elegant lace bras are a good place to start.

Women's Panties Online - A Guide to Buying Silky Panties

Buying panties has never been easier - there are literally thousands of lingerie and panty sites online, making it a pleasure to browse, comparing panty styles from site to site.

In the UK panties used to be known as knickers but this term is now being less used - the term panties somehow has more 'sexy' connotations as opposed to the more 'sensible' overtones implied by the term 'knickers'.

The following description of types of panty should help you in your purchasing decisions, and this is addressed particularly to men who may well wish to treat the significant woman in their life to some new panties.

Bikini panties

These panties tend to ride low on the hips and usually a bikini brief has a full back, although this can vary.

Full brief

The top of the panty is generally higher, resting on the waist. They achieved humorous notoriety as the panties featured in the Bridget Jones movie. There are a few variants of this design too:

Boy leg

These briefs finish across the legs horizontally, giving the effect of tight-fitting boys' shorts. Generally such designs are created in lacy or sheer materials.

High Cut Panties

These are the opposite to boy leg, in that the sides of the brief are cut in such a way to show more of the top of the thigh - these do look very sexy as they have the effect of accentuating and enhancing the apparent length of the person's legs. They are also known as French cut.

Thong Panties

The thong consists of a waistband connected to a narrow (sometimes little more than a string) at the rear, and a small triangle of fabric at the front.

Very little material goes into a thong - generally the back is very slim, and disappears between the buttock cheeks! Great for wearing under very tight-fitting trousers as it eliminates the visible panty line, often known by the acronym VPL. It is also great when worn under white, as it appears that no panties are being worn at all! The downside is that initially such panties can feel very different; however once you've become used to the different sensation you'll probably find yourself hooked on these! There have been surveys online, and certainly in ladies up to twenty five years old the thong appears to be the most favoured type of underwear. However it must be said that the survey should not be taken too seriously because it only related to a fairly small group of individuals, and was self-selected. It is possible that more thong wearers has chosen to respond, whereas wearers of other types of panties had not responded.

The thong, or the tanga as it is known in Brazil, has a number of variants:

G-string, V-string and T-back vary the amount of material attaching to the waistband at the back. Some authorities assert that the G-string owes its derivation to strippers' underwear, and there does seem to be a blurring of how these items are described from country to country.

Crotchless panties (also known as open-crotch)

This design of panty is self-explanatory; generally a well-received choice for bedroom wear, for obvious reasons!

Panty sizes

However the biggest problem when buying panties online tends to be the sizing. The prime issue is that many countries all have their own method of specifying sizing. In a 'bricks and mortar' shop you can inspect the panties whereas online you will be dependent on the accuracy of descriptions. Some companies on the Internet will provide sizing charts that allow conversion from say continental Europe to UK, to Australian sizes. Even in Europe sizes can vary, so conversion charts will be needed between for example France and Italy. Unfortunately the most awkward sizes to convert to and from are those of panties from USA.

It is strange that with probably more American lingerie outlets online than those from other countries that they have made it difficult for those living in other countries to actually buy from them with confidence, based on sizing!

Materials used for panties

As with other lingerie there are a variety of materials, ranging from lace to satin to nylon. Certainly in the USA it is common to find that the gusset has an inbuilt cotton crotch. Indeed it is probably more difficult to find panties without the cotton crotch although in the UK there are companies who are now making retro copies of fifties sheer nylon designs. They may not be suitable for everyday wear but such designs are intended to drive the man in your life wild! Interestingly, the materials and designs that have resulted in consistently regular 're-orders' from the sites I am involved with are the conventional classic designs in satin finish. The material, with its sexy glossy finish, looks great on, and feels very silky to wear. These are the panties that I wear for preference (sorry guys - no thongs for me!) However I have searched the world for suppliers and there are very few manufacturers that use this soft satin material.

So next time you are thinking of adding to your lingerie drawer, do what so many busy women do, and let your PC help you search out the most comfortable sexy panties from he comfort of your own home!

An Easy Way to Get Your Husband's Attention

The honeymoon isn't going to last forever. You had to have known this from the beginning.

When you were dating or first got married he couldn't keep his eyes or hands off you. When he came home for work he was thinking about you. You two had sex at least once everyday on a bad week. You both went out to eat and talked and while you both were talking he was undressing you with his eyes. It was great. The man you loved couldn't get enough of you.

That's a memory now.

After going to work, paying bills, maybe having kids, and dealing with the 100s of little problems every married couple will eventually have the fire has been blown out. Not only blown out, I might add, but the candle that the fire was in has been dunked in water so that the next time you try to light the fire it's double the effort.

Now that we have identified the problem what are you going to do about it?

Here's a valuable marriage that I highly recommend you try.

Change your panties.

I know it sounds weird. I know you might be saying "that's it." "That's all you're going to tell me?"

And I say yes.

Add something different. He's been seeing the same thing every night and the thrill is gone. He loves you but at the same time he knows he has you. He's not chasing you anymore. And seeing you in regular plain cotton underwear will get old.

Put some red or black satin panties on and see if your husband doesn't notice. Maybe add a see through white flowing robe/nightgown to the mix.

Have you tried lycra. Its stretches and is very appealing to the eyes. (Word of caution though, please do not use lycra if you are prone to yeast infections.)

Have you tried leopard skin panties? If no, then why not? Have you considered wearing a thong? A G-string? Bikini cut style panties?

I've heard woman say that those styles of panties just are not comfortable. That entirely not true. You will get what you pay for. I can show you some lace satin panties that feel just as or more comfortable that Hanes Cotton Panties. You just have to experiment. Be creative. There are so many choices out there. Try Victoria's Secret. They have fabulous items.

My point, mix it up with your panties selection. Men are very visual and will without a doubt recognize you in your new black panties you are wearing. It will turn them on. You will be different woman in their eyes. You've morphed from wife to bombshell vixen.

So give it a try. That's something small that you can do on your end. That will not solve everything by any means but its the little things you do that make a marriage work.

So what are you waiting for. Do it today. Go to the department store or start surfing the net for some new panties. Make his friend jealous that he has you.

Lycra Panties

Lycra and nylon panties are in right now. They should be a great addition to your panties selection in the future. Read on and you will see why.

One of the biggest benefits to Lycra, which is oftentimes blended with nylon, is that is stretches. The unique microfiber stretches in every direction so these panties mold and contour to your body beautifully. This can especially be useful if you are a plus size woman or if you are pregnant. If you are expecting your panties will be able to stretch a lot more than other fabrics as your body does as well. Some benefits to contouring to your body's shape include giving you a more slender look as well as giving you a lessor chance of getting that dreaded panty line under your clothing. This is a major plus to any woman who usually wears dress slacks to work.

Lycra panties also feel very lightweight. The fabric of Lycra will feel like it weighs almost 2x less than your average cotton panties. And because of this you can expect Lycra panties to be a lot more comfortable than cotton or satin panties.

Comfort, lightweight, stretchable, appealing. These are the four words that I would use to describe Lycra undergarments. If you like any of those things I would suggest getting a pair.

I feel that it is necessary to note one drawback to Lycra panties. Because Lycra and nylon are made from synthetic fibers they may trap air and create a breeding ground for yeast. Those woman prone to yeast infections should avoid these types of panties and stick with panties made of cotton. But if you do not have that probelm I cannot think of any other negative attribute.

Start thinking about which color you want before you start looking for a pair. Black Lycra panties look phenomenal. Tastes will vary. You will have to do a trial and error to see which one works best for you.

Women's Panty Styles - From Itty Bitty to Full Coverage

For all the discussion of women's clothing, it is somewhat surprising that underwear doesn't get more mention. It is, after all, the first piece of clothing most of us put on.

Women's panty styles are surprisingly varied. You can wear anything from pieces that provide lots of coverage to versions so small that one could argue they hardly qualify as much more than a piece of string. The "best choice" is highly subjective, but each panty style has benefits and drawbacks. Let's take a closer look.

The full brief panty is our staple women's underwear piece. It rides naturally around the waistline with coverage down the buttock area. The full brief panty is known for also having a fuller coverage area on the side of the hips. Material rides from the waistline down to the lower derriere on the hips, which makes sliding and slipping issues non-existent.

The bikini panty is our second style of women's underwear. It is very popular. As the name suggests, the piece rides like a traditional full bikini one would wear to a day out by the water. The bikini panty is perfect for low rise pants and is generally considered more feminine then the full brief panty.

The thong panty is often misunderstood. When one says "thong", most women tend to envision a g-string. A g-string is a type of thong, but there are versions with more comfort. Most women technically where thongs and don't realize it. This is because one form of thong panty is one with coverage in the front and back, but minimal material running high up over the hip, often in the form of string like materials.

And then there is the g-string. It drives men crazy in a good way, but most women find it an acquired taste. How so? A classic g-string has coverage in the front, and a tiny string running front to back between the legs. It is a physical sensation that is "unique" to say the least. Most women find it very uncomfortable. The advantage of a g-string, however, is obviously the fact there are no panty lines which makes it a perfect form of underwear for many looks.

The boy short has become very popular in recent years. Men have boxer shorts and boy shorts are the equivalent for us gals. They ride a little lower than full brief panties on the waistline, but provide a snug fit over the buttocks and down the legs about an inch or so below the groin area. Personally, I find them to be very comfortable. They are not exactly sexy, so you'll have to choose between comfort and sexiness.

Women's underwear has come a long way. From itty bitty g-strings to full brief panties, there is something for everyone and every occasion.

"New" Bra on the Market

The other day Google put a link at our shop email for a "new" kind of bra. Naturally we had a look. Very unimpressive is the kindest way we can tell you what we think of it.

Their webpage IS good, I will say that. There's a video there that's been professionally produced, so I'm sure they're making sales. BUT--the only reason this bra would be selling is because the vast majority of women simply don't know what they need to know to get the right size bra.

A "new" style of bra is not necessary. All that's needed is for women to know what bra size they should be wearing.

The very first thing we noticed about this new bra is that it's NOT available in the sizes that most women need. It only comes in a D to a DDD. MOST of our customers are wearing cup sizes larger than that. And it only starts with a band size of 38. Probably at least half of our customers are wearing band sizes smaller than 38.

The second thing we noticed is the "beginner's" approach to solving the back fat problem that you get from wearing the wrong size bra. Because the designer's of this "new" bra don't know bras and bra design like they should, what they've done is add what could be called a "girdle strap"--a second band in back--to hold in the back fat.

The reason the back fat is there in the first place is because of wearing the wrong size bra, the result of which is that the bra itself has "created" that back fat by squishing the breast tissue out of the breast and sending it to the woman's back.

There's only 2 things you can do to solve this problem. First, start wearing the right size bra, and that will keep the problem from getting worse. 2nd, start doing the boob enhancement exercises that I have in my video, and in a month or 2, all of your separated breast tissue will be back where it belongs, in your boobs, NOT in your back.

Any woman who tries to rely on this "new" bra would NEVER be able to wear anything low in the back, would NEVER be able to wear strapless. And any woman CAN WEAR both of those styles, provided she's wearing the right size bra.

Using Undergarments to Redefine Your Shape

Not every one can have the body of a supermodel or celebrity. Part of the reason, of course, is because we can't afford the surgery! Still, there are ways to modify your shape for certain outfits using undergarments.

You have a special occasion coming up, and a perfect dress for it. There is a problem, however. You've got a slight bit of bulge around your midsection and it is very evident when you wear the dress. You have a week till the event, so what can you do? Diet? Exercise? No, there isn't enough time. Instead, you could use a high waist brief to pull things together if you will. In fact, there are many different undergarments that can be used to modify different areas of the body.

Let's start with the high waist brief. What is it? It is similar to a full brief panty, but extends up the hips. It also fits snugger through this area. When you wear it, it will help minimize the "muffin top" problem all women can suffer from and create a sleeker, vertical line. If you are like most women and are not rail thin, this should be a mandatory part of your wardrobe.

Where do we store excess pounds? Every woman knows the answer - our thighs. It is an aggravating fact, but there is something you can do. Let me introduce you to the thigh slimmer. It is similar to a full brief panty, but comes with legs. They will not bind your legs, but the will create a tighter, snug fit that can make the thighs look significantly thinner for the outfit you are trying to put together.

The body slip represents a more global approach to shaping your body. The body slip has become so varied that trying to define it in one paragraph is pretty difficult. Some body slips are simply loose fitting slips that create a buffer between your body and clothes. Others, however, incorporate everything from waist modifying corsets to underwire bras to strapless variations that are perfect for that elegant one shoulder dress. You should take the time to give them a look and decide if they meet any of you needs. They usually do.

All of these undergarments can make a difference in your body shape. The changes will trend towards the subtle side, so don't expect a plastic surgery type of change. That being said, they can make the difference when you need to a particular outfit for an evening and they are a lot cheaper than plastic surgery!

Know the Ins and Outs of Your Bra

The brassiere has been with us for a very long time. During this lengthy period, the bra has evolved from a seriously uncomfortably contraption to the modern equivalent. Along the way, the terminology used for bras also changed significantly.

If you want to get the perfect fit on a bra, you are going to need to communicate. You should speak with a professional fitter at least once in your life. When you do, understanding what they are talking about is key. Here are a few phrases that are commonly used by the pros, but most of us don't know about.

"Comforters" do not refer to something you put on the bed. With bras, this refers to a type of strap that can be worn with a bra. Some of us have shoulders that simply were not designed to comfortably carry the average bra strap. You might be too boney, not boney enough or whatever. "Comforters" are wider straps that are padded. They often are used to create a better fit over the shoulder with less friction than found with normal bra straps.

"Wicking" is a term that is often used in two situations. It refers to the ability of a material to deal with humidity. The most common usage is when discussing sports bras. Since you will be sweating, you usually want to wear a bra that has microfiber material that will wick the moisture away from your body. This can also be the case with other bras if you tend to sweat, feel hot about the breast or live in an area with serious humidity and heat issue.

The "Gore" is a term that is always used by professional bra fitters. The gore is the material that sites between the cups. If you are having fitting issues, one of the first things that will be examined is whether the gore is made of material that stretches or not. Most fitters prefer material that does not stretch because you are then able to be sure of the sizing.

"Foam lined cups" are another phrase you will hear from professional fitters. Most women misunderstand their purpose. It is assumed that the foam is intended to create the impression of larger breasts. It is not. The true purpose is to create a better shape and provide support for the breasts. As you probably know, breasts are not symmetrical. A fitting professional will often suggest foam lined bras to create a more uniform look and fit.

There are a surprising large number of terms unique to bras. If you are not familiar with a particular term, make sure to ask so you know exactly what you are getting into...literally!

How to Figure Out Your Bra Size

Finding the right fit for a bra can be a real challenge. Numerous studies have shown most women get the process wrong. There are many factors to getting the perfect fit with a bra. Figuring out your size is the first place to start.

Before we go through how to figure out your bra size, you need to realize that this is not something you do one time. Your body changes continually. Your breasts are no different. You should resize your breast once a year. You'll probably be shocked the first few times when you realize how much change is occurring. Okay, let's get on with the measuring process.

Our first step is to get a tape measure. Now wrap it around your chest and back so that is perpendicular to the ground. Do not run the tape over your breast. Instead, run it just under them at their base. Now measure one full loop. This is your band size. The "band" is the material that runs around the bottom edge of your bra and should provide the majority of the support to your breasts.

Now we need to get our second measurement. Do the same thing with the tape measure with one exception. Instead of placing it at the bottom of your breast, place it over the top where they are fullest. This is your bust line, often called your "bust size". By definition, it will be larger than your band size.

Now to figure out your cup size, we need to do a bit of math. Subtract your band size from your bust size to the closest inch. You should have a single digit number. Now you must match it the cup size as follows: 2 inches is a B cup; 3 inches is a C cup; 4 inches is a D cup; 5 inches is a DD cup; and 6 inches is a DDD cup.

So, what is our final measurement for our bra size? It is simple. You just take the band size and add the cup size after it. Let's assume I have a band size of 36 inches and bust size of 39 inches. The difference is 3 inches, which means I have a "C" cup. My bra size is a 36C.

Does this mean I should hop online and just start ordering 36C bras? Unfortunately, it does not. Bra brands have their own ideas of how bras should fit regardless of the sizes. As a result, you should try them on first to find a version that fits well and then pop online to buy. Online sites are usually cheaper because they do not carry the overhead that a brick and mortar store does. Most also offer free shipping, which cuts your cost further and we can all stand to save a buck these days.

Stretch Lace Teddy - An Investment That Earns Its Own Returns

Until two decades ago, people were ashamed of going to a store for buying undergarments. The word lingerie was, then, almost non-existent. A huge percentage of the crowd had no clue about what it meant or how it was pronounced or even the spelling. Originating from a French word, it created a rage for women belonging to high societies, mostly in countries abroad! Now women are opening doors to fashion and the in and out thanks to Fashion TV, being one of the leading fashion channels playing today, where models walk on the ramps just dedicating an entire show to lingerie.

Not just for the purpose of looking good, but for inside purposes too - pun intended! Lingerie in simple terms can also mean nightwear. Nightwear as an individual garment was never an outfit which was a must in a woman's wardrobe, especially in India, although now it has very prominently found its place! Or could we say the right place! Lingerie today includes sexy dresses, shirt & skirt sets, bras, panties, stretch lace teddy, g-strings, thongs, corsets, stockings and costume, ranging from the most expensive to the most affordable of prices.

Today, we are more open to issues that were only behind closed doors. There was a point when essentials like undergarments were not openly discussed nor was it on the top priority amongst women! But today, a whole world of a difference has taken place in the society, with international brands making its way into the market. Today stores exclusively specialize in just lingerie products like stretch lace teddy! Women today are not ashamed to walk into a lingerie store to fulfill their needs! Lingerie not only comes in different shapes and sizes but the designs are unimaginable suiting every need and seductive act of a woman! Lingerie collections may include sexy lingerie, erotic lingerie, leather lingerie, plus size lingerie and also romantic gifts for the loved ones! Making its very prominent mark in the market is the stretch lace teddy.

Having a style of its own, the stretch lace teddy sells itself the most among women today, be it anywhere in the world! It helps a woman bring out the best in her and obviously a fantasy come true for a man! Women not only want to try the simple, but also look forward to experiment her wild side too (wild being the antonym of the stretch lace teddy).

The stretch lace teddy would best describe itself as a sexy stretch lace underwire with demi cups and ruffled legs with adjustable straps for the thin to the voluptuous. Prices range from materials to different designs, from naughty pinks, polka dots to even animal prints! The stretch lace teddy is an investment that earns its own returns!

Earlier there existed only a few stores and with little or no competition. The plunging of international brands competing with one another, they just strive to make each day better! Stretch lace teddy offers to women today the best and only the best. With the targets going beyond expectations, women definitely do not regret it!

The Flexibility of Modern Bras

For many of us, wearing a bra is something we just do as part of our daily ritual of getting dressed. Seriously, how often do you really think about it in the morning besides making a color choice? More thought should be given to it.

The modern bra is both a support mechanism and a fashion piece. In antiquity, bras tended to be cumbersome things that looked more like those cones Madonna used to wear on stage than anything else. They reminded one more of those cones on a road to warn you of a lane closure than anything remotely sexy. Well, the changing times have seen changing bra performance.

Most women know there are bras that are appropriate for certain situations. The classic example is the sports bra. If you are going to be running or working out, you are crazy if you don't wear a sports bra unless you desire to be clasping the front of your bra around your belt line ten years down the road! While this is an obvious example, there are more subtle ones as well.

Cosmetic breast enhancement surgery is all the rage for a number of reasons. Most deal with the fact women want bigger breast, but the issue can also be a better shape to the breast. Cosmetic surgery, however, is expensive and there is always some risk with any medical surgery. If either of these are excessively worrisome to you, there are sexy bras that can help.

Bras can't make your breasts bigger. That goes without saying. Push up bras, however, can make them more noticeable. Also, don't underestimate the effect of foam inserts to create a look. Let's say you want to wear a plunge bra, but don't feel your breasts are big enough to pull off the look. The strategic placement of foam inserts can create the look you want.

What about shape? One thing that bothers women to no end is the fact that our breasts are not symmetrical. One is slightly larger or shaped differently than the other. Again, there are bras that can be worn to create a more uniform shape. Contour bras are undoubtedly the best for shaping and you should own a couple.

There are many issues we all face when dealing with outfits and the undergarments that we wear. The point of this article is that you should realize there is tremendous flexibility with modern bras. They don't all do the same thing. Each can provide different solutions to different needs you might have. Make sure you learn the different variations there are and mix and match to your delight.

Are Your Bras Uncomfortable and Driving You Nuts?

There are certain types of clothing that can be worn whether they fit or not. Just look at jeans and how kids in particular wear them. Unfortunately, this is not the case with bras. There is no other piece of clothing that women complain about more than there bras.

The first thing to understand about your bra problems is you may be the problem. Huh? Most of us have the wrong impression on how our bras are supposed to work. A bra is supposed to support our breast. This support is supposed to come primarily from the bottom of the bra, not the top. Your straps should not hold the breasts up like a hanging plant! Instead, the band running around the bottom of the bra should do most of the heavy lifting. Get just this one thing right and your bra will feel much more comfortable.

The second thing to understand is the proper way to wear a bra. Yes, we all know the front from the back, but what about placement? Many women get the bra band placement wrong. Your band should run around the bottom edge of your breasts. That is easy. Once the band wraps around your back, however, it should remain at the same level as on your chest. Most women yank their straps up and the bra rides up their back. This causes problems with the band and can lead to headaches as well as back, shoulder and neck pain. Make sure to pull the bra down your back so it is parallel to the band on your chest.

A third area where problems occur is the bra digs into your arms or in the area of your arm pit. The reason is typically that you are wearing the wrong cup size. If the bra tends to flair out and aggravate the inside of your arms, the cup is too small. Go up a size. If the bra digs into the inside of your arm pit, the cup is too big. Go down a size. It should be noted that the shape of your breast can also be an issue here. If a cup size change does not work, you may need a different style of bra.

When you wear a bra, does it pull away from your chest? This very common problem is a symptom of one thing - you are wearing a cup size that is too small. Go up a size and see how it fits. You'll be shocked how much better the fit will be as well as your comfort level.

A final issue to consider when getting the perfect bra fit is time. Specifically, when was the last time you were measured for a bra? If it has been more than six months and definitely if it has been more than a year, your body has changed and you are referencing a bra size that simply does not fit anymore. Do a measurement or get a professional one done and then try shopping for bras using that new sizing. It could make a world of difference.

Spice Up Your Attire With an Underwire Camisole

A snug fitting, sleeveless lingerie, which covers the upper part of body from chest down to the waist, is known as a camisole or cami. Present day camisoles are designed to be worn as an outer garment, not only a lingerie or sleepwear, typically because they come with an inbuilt bra, which provides the necessary bust support and comfort. Such camisole is referred to as an underwire camisole.

Role of fabrics in underwire camisole

Fabrics, which are used in making underwire camisole, are normally cotton blends with nylon and spandex or elastin to maintain the garment shape all through the day without any sagging or looseness. The fabric gives the camisole a stretch, fit and construction with utmost compression, which allows flexible and comfortable mobility. The elastic bands used are usually kept soft and brushed to avoid discomfort. The fabrics used can generally be washed in machine or by hand and normally sustain multiple recurrent washes. Some of the modern-day underwire camisole is also available in microfiber fabrics. The ideal fabric for such tight-fitting garments are the moisture wicking fabrics, which leaves a cool and dry feel even after they are worn for hours together.

Benefits with underwire camisole

Underwire camisoles are specially designed to be used for sportswear, running, jogging or yoga. The bra in these camis has wider straps for improved support and ease. Back strap and fasteners can be adjusted and mesh panel is present inside for proper ventilation.

Get a sleek & sexy look

Underwire camisole can sometimes have a molded cup bra or an inbuilt padded cup, which gives a sensuous and appealing bust shape, especially for the not so well endowed women. The padded cups eliminate any bra lines. On the contrary, for large busted women, there are underwire camisole styled with thicker shoulder straps and more fabric coverage for the extra support and lift required. Both the options come with back straps and fasteners, which are adjustable as per the individuals requirement. Construction of underwire camisole can be done for giving seamless look, flattened abdomen and a smooth waistline to get a sleek and sexy look.

Tips for supplementing your sexual vibes

An underwire camisole worn under a shirt or jacket along with a more erotic closefitting evening wear and skirts or under low cut tops & dresses can supplement sexual vibes to your appearance. When styled in satin or silk, they become a part of lingerie or sleepwear. At the same time, if made in regular cotton blends, they can be worn casually as day wear or work wear. It's a great piece of clothing for summer season when you want to beat the heat and an added layer for colder months. Underwire camisoles can be made more feminine and sensational with use of laces, embroideries and sheer fabrics with trimming of ribbons and bows.

To sum it up, underwire camisole is one of the most diversely used outfits, which have the power to spice up your attire, from your bedroom to work for your special evenings.

Vintage Shapewear - Fifties Fashion Needs a Fifties Silhouette

Fifties and sixties shapewear is in the news again, partly as a result of the TV series Mad Men. Actresses don the original sixties pull-on girdles to achieve those shapely figures women enjoyed flaunting all through the fifties until the call came for them to 'burn their bras' and become liberated! Now those fashions are back with a vengeance.

Some people collect vintage shapewear purely for the pleasure of owning a collection of vintage fashion history, others buy to wear and others still buy as an investment. Unlike the modern retro copies there are a variety of pitfalls to negotiate if you are entering the field of vintage girdles and corsetry for the first time. The first question that I am often asked is why someone should buy fifties lingerie when there is already such a wide choice of modern lingerie available. The detailing and hand finishing on exquisite fifties satin bullet bras and the art deco inspired stitching on fifties long line girdles has to be seen to be believed. It would be impossible for modern shapewear, which is mass-produced to come close to this level of workmanship, without costing a small fortune.

The following tips should give you the background you need when starting your own vintage lingerie collection.

Sizing: size specification has altered considerably over the years - you should be aware that a modern size 12 will be considerably bigger than a size 12 from the fifties, and also sizing is varies in different countries - a US size 12 could be a UK size 16!

Materials: It was rubber that gave vintage shapewear its stretch characteristics. The modern counterparts are Lycra and elastane. Sadly vintage lingerie containing latex is particularly susceptible to deterioration over time, even more so if the garments have not been stored in temperature-controlled conditions. If you stretch a girdle and it stays stretched then it will not be wearable and certainly will not be a collectible item either! From the forties onward some manufacturers used a form of foam rubber as padding in their corsets and corselets (effectively a longline bra and girdle joined into one garment). Frequently such vintage shapewear will not have stood the test of time - the foam rubber often becomes rock hard and inflexible or, worse, crumbles to a gritty powder.

All reputable vintage lingerie online stores will check and describe the condition of the fabric, but you do need to be especially careful if you use an online auction site to source your shapewear. Garter clips from this era used a metal frame with a rubber garter tab. So often a beautiful fifties girdle is rendered less desirable by the rubber tab hardening - the first time one tries to open the garter clip the tab cracks and crumbles. Of course if you are very handy with a needle and thread it is possible to replace the garter tabs; the resulting garment will still be a delight to wear but less attractive to the purist collector, for whom original condition and construction is very important.

Condition: The nearer the condition of the garment to 'factory fresh' the more collectable it will be - naturally this is more difficult to attain with items from the twenties and thirties than from the sixties. There is currently little demand for lingerie after the sixties, because at that point pantyhose all but killed the stockings, garters and girdles. Collectors look for garments that are clean, show no signs of wear and tear, no perishing of fabrics, rust or storage marks. Frankly collecting for investment tends to be risky because subtle deterioration can be ongoing without expert care - it is better to collect to enjoy wearing, with the bonus that if you treat the items with care you are likely to recoup your outlay if and when you do decide to dispose of them. Age: It is obvious that an older item in great condition is likely to be more valuable than a more recent example. Check the label - older labels will have the hand washing instructions - if you see the machine washing icons then you are looking at modern shapewear! One clue to age is the older garments will have rubber, cotton, rayon used...more modern garments will have Lycra. Bear in mind that if the labels have been removed from the garment then it is unlikely to be of much interest to a collector. Another clue to age is that items from the forties often had the 'utility label', looking like a pair of 'pac men'. The holy grail for collectors, is to get find 'new old stock', often sold with the acronym 'NOS' - not only will the labels be intact but the original cardboard sales tag will be on the garment, and maybe even the original packaging.

Being able to shop online has boosted the popularity of vintage shapewear, but as with any other collectible item, it is always a case of 'buyer beware' - the more detailed the item description, covering sizing, labeling and condition, and the more detailed the photographs, the more confidence you can have in buying. If you are buying on an auction site, check how long has the seller been a member of the site. Check the member's feedback. With all sellers whether auction or an online boutique, check the returns policy.

Buying Lingerie For Your Gal - Tips For Men

You've decided to buy lingerie for that special lady in your life. You could be buying the perfect sexy gift, but only if you follow certain guidelines we'll discuss in this article.

Women love gifts, so you are already on the right path when you purchase lingerie for her. That being said, women are a bit touchy about the size of their bodies, so you need to go about the process with a light touch. Giving a gift of lingerie that is too small will definitely ruin the evening - trust me on this!

Your overriding goal is to get something she is going to like. Lingerie is not sexy. The woman wearing it is. This means she needs to feel great wearing it, not self conscious. If you buy something that you want, but she won't like, it is not going to work out because it hardly puts her in the mood. Get her something based on what you know she likes and the gift has a much better chance of going over well. Do not try to recreate the wheel here. If she already has lingerie, you should be able to get a pretty good idea of what she is after.

Colors make the woman. She has certain colors that work for her and certain colors she loathes. How do you figure out which is which? Just watch her and take a look in her closet. What does she wear frequently when she wants to look her sexy best? Stick to those colors. Don't buy her hot yellow lingerie because you like the color!

Now comes the incredibly delicate part of the operation. You need to figure out what size to buy her. A word of advice - better to have died a small child than buy lingerie that is too small! In truth, figuring out her size isn't too hard. Just look through her closet. Get sizes for bras and underwear. The bras will give you bust line dimensions and the underwear will give you her real waist size. Women will wear pants and skirts that are too tight, but rarely will do the same with underwear.

Buying lingerie for you gal is a high risk, high benefit affair. Get it right and you'll be very glad you did. Just follow these guidelines and you have a pretty good chance of success.

Pear Or Apple - The Sweet Guide to Lingerie

Contrary to many opinions, a woman may either possess the generalized shape of an apple or a pear. There are no other categories. Much of the confusion in this matter naturally arises from a slim or fit body challenging the imagination to ponder exactly which of the two categories fits where neither seems to. The key thing to understand here is that the more excess weight the woman carries, the more pronounced her body type becomes. Shape distinction is not so much a static evaluation as it is a commentary on the way in which our bodies hold weight when we gain it.

Also, it is important to understand that as women our bodies are constantly assaulted by hormonal and chemical shifts that are both the product of heredity and our physical and emotional environments. It is a relatively common phenomenon for a woman to undergo a severe hormonal stress such as childbirth or menopause and to afterward find that her body type has changed.

This guide is meant to discuss the differences in the two body types and to assist the reader in the selection of lingerie that may help to emphasize her best assets while subtly detracting from her less than ideal features. Never forget that feeling sexy in your own skin is more alluring than the wrong cut or style of lingerie could ever be!

Spiced Pears

Go ahead and complain about your wide hips, blossoming buttocks and voluptuous thighs! If your weight gain typically takes place predominately in these areas, then you are relatively lucky. A proportionally small waist and narrow upper body, even on a heavy frame, lessens your likelihood of death by heart disease, attack or failure dramatically when compared with an apple shaped woman. Any excess of weight will create an unnecessary stress on your bones, tendons and organs but if you are a pear you definitely can afford to carry a bit more weight than your counterparts.

A pear shaped woman is also fortunate from an aesthetic viewpoint. While she may feel larger than she should be, even with a few extra pounds her figure adheres to the archetypical feminine ideal.

When choosing a good panty cut, the back is not nearly as important as the waist. Due to the pear's waist to hip ratio a low rise or bikini waist is almost always preferable unless the woman in question is trim or only a few pounds overweight.

A good if somewhat overdone lingerie option for the pear figure is the baby doll nightie because it will provide masking partial hip coverage. A chemise or a long night gown with a low cut bodice is also an excellent choice because these cuts will draw attention to your upper half. A classic teddy should not be discounted provided you are holding no more than a handful of extra softness because it will make your already small waist seem even tinier, giving you an exaggerated, idealized feminine form. Don't overlook lingerie involving capris, pants or harem style leggings. Anything you can do to play down your bulges below the waist will show off your best half and help you feel the way you want to for your next intimate encounter.

Apple Tarts

If you are prone to weight gain do you see it first in your face, then next in your middle? Do you buy pants based on waist girth rather than on hip width? Are your legs your pride and joy, but you just wish your waist didn't seem so straight up and down? Do your cycles seem more irregular and your menstruation more painful on average than other women of your acquaintance? Yep, you're an apple. Welcome.

Admittedly, an apple shaped woman is not only less classically proportioned she is also prone to packing all manner of the fat that can kill her directly around her heart. Even a trim apple is at greater risk for heart disease than a pear shaped woman of the same height holding twenty to thirty pounds in excess. Weight control in apples is not only a matter of physical comfort, but of long term health. Some basic nutritional information should be employed by you for every meal you eat. Eat more fruits and vegetables with every meal to assist your digestion and metabolism. Don't partake of animal fats or red meat in general if you can help it. When it comes to oils try to stay light: virgin olive oil for cooking, flax oil for dressings. Try to use more seeds, nuts and fish for your protein needs as most of these are high in omega fatty acids which will aid your body in a natural reduction of harmful fats.

A flattering panty can take many forms but it could be useful to disguise your slightly thicker middle with a high waist as in a traditional thong. Try one in a darker shade to create a flattering optical illusion.

As for lingerie styles, try to make purchases that cinch or disguise your middle while accentuating your gams. Teddies with very high sides can paint your figure in entirely new and flattering lines. Corsets, bustiers and waist cinching garments are indispensable to you. Play with hosiery and have fun, but try to avoid dark bottoms in combination with light tops because this pairing will leave you looking your worst unnecessarily.

In Conclusion

Knowing whether you are an apple or a pear is the first step in deciding what lingerie styles or clothing styles in general will show you off to your best advantage. Remember that the key to a perfect figure is creating an image of balance between your top and bottom halves. Every woman possesses her own unique beauty. Bringing that beauty to the fore can help you to look and in turn feel your very best at anytime.

The Word on Special Occasion Lingerie

You have begun shopping online for lingerie, but what is your purpose? Is it to find comfortable, sexy undergarments that could be worn any day of the week, any time of the day? How do you want your lingerie to work for you? Does it give you an extra boost of confidence under your suit or khakis? Is it a present or a surprise for that special someone? Will it be convenient for you to "slip into something more comfortable" across the course of a romantic evening? Will you actually be sleeping in your undergarment? These are the factors that will help you determine what styles and fabrics are ideal for your situation.

The term "lingerie" encompasses a wide variety of styles in women's undergarments and can indicate both any-day or special occasion wear. It is no secret that the quality of lingerie with regard to both its attractiveness and its durability can vary as wildly as the number of styles in which it is available. This is why the savvy customer should do a bit of reading up on the subject prior making a purchase in this line. The purpose of the following guide is to provide a generalized description along with a touch of basic advice concerning your choices in special occasion lingerie styles.

Bustiers and Corsets

Bustiers and corsets are some of the more involved styles of lingerie and are generally reserved for special occasions. The principle difference between these two kinds of support is that a corset may be cinched tighter, typically with lacings in front and back although lacings may be only on one face or in some cases on the sides as well. Bustiers are more often than not made without lacings and will have at least one hook and eye closure seam.

Bustiers will often include garters whereas these are very rarely included with a corset. This fact has a great deal of benefit with regard to the modern trend of wearing corsets as outerwear or evening wear in that garters will not be problematic to the transition. Another fun trend is to incorporate a mini bustle with a corset ensemble made from non-traditional materials for a hip look with a Victorian flavor.

In their construction, these corset and bustier styles are very similar in that they create a sleek, idealized figure underneath fancy suits or formal wear. Due to the beauty of the materials and notions often employed in their construction both bustiers and corsets are most often worn as lingerie simply for lingerie's sake. The strength of their figure controlling properties stems from the use of boning. These are metal or plastic rods mimicking what was once made from animal and whale bone, creating a sort of exoskeleton for all of your soft spots. Cups in these garments are also very supportive, almost never existing without underwire. Many bustiers do not include cups at all but will instead restrict your bust girth in order to create a pushed-up and out effect.

It should be noted that unless you are inclined to hurt yourself it is generally not a good idea to sleep in a bustier or a corset. This is not to discount the erotic properties of releasing yourself from confinement after a few hours. The point here is merely to alert you that bruising and pinching may occur with prolonged wear. It should also be noted that these are some of the more expensive items on the market. Custom made corsets can cost into the thousands of dollars (U.S.). The prices for manufactured pieces start in the $50 range and ascend based on materials used and designer name brands involved.

Chemises, Peignoirs and (Night)Gowns

A recent trend in lingerie lingo is to call a long nightie a "gown". This can be confusing, especially to the online shopper who is genuinely searching for a gown. It is recommended that should you be in such a situation, you would be better served searching for formal gowns or women's formal dresses.

Chemises and gowns are the kinds of any-day lingerie which transcend to special occasion wear with as little as the angle of the light. For a special occasion, simply emphasize factors such as the quality of the material employed, the quality of construction and the overall perceived elegance of the piece. Also, never underestimate the strategic use of accessories such as fine jewelry, shoes or hair decoration.

Peignoirs are sets comprised of a long nightgown and a matching robe which may or may not include a panty or in some cases a matching heeled slipper. These lingerie sets are typically reserved for special occasion bedroom wear such as honeymoons, although this need not be the case. Leave it to your personal sense of style!

Teddies

Teddies, while often constructed with underwire cups, are not typically as restrictive as other popular styles in special occasion lingerie and are a great choice for a variety of figures. For the true pear shaped woman, a teddy rising high to her middle will accentuate her soft, round hips and thighs while causing her waist to look its tiniest. For the lean, athletic woman a carefully chosen teddy can create a figure curving optical illusion. Apple shaped women, even those without an extra ounce to them should be very careful to only purchase a teddy with very high sides so as not to shorten their already disadvantaged midriff. However, these same apples should definitely not shy away from the style due to its terrific ability to showcase their legs.

Some teddies could pass for swimwear or any-day wear, but there are a significant portion of garments designed in this style which would not be comfortable or practical under clothing. Essentially, for any-day wear a teddy must have some sort of bottom accessibility. (If you've ever been frustrated by a one-piece swimsuit in the restroom, you'll understand the point.)

Again, as in the case of all lingerie, a special occasion teddy is a fine cocktail of quality materials evoking a rarified mood that can be easily augmented with elegant accessories such as opera length gloves or an expensive designer heel.

In Conclusion

Lingerie for that special day or night should be worn with an elegant mood in mind. You wouldn't wear a sundress to the symphony. For occasions such as Valentine's Day, your honeymoon or your wedding anniversary, an any-day look simply won't do. Also not to be discounted, an extravagantly rich look worn to what might have been just any old night of the week is a flattering way of letting your partner know just how desired they are. In short, if you dress like a princess you'll feel like a princess in fancy lingerie designed for presence, appeal and that perfect special occasion!

Discover the Joys of Any-Day Lingerie

The purpose of the following guide is to provide generalized descriptions and a touch of basic advice concerning your choices in any-day lingerie styles.

Bras & Panties

A well-fitted bra is both a rarity and a pleasure. The commonly agreed upon statistic is that as many as 85% of women are wearing the wrong sized bra. This isn't too hard to verify for yourself if you just take a look around you. Bra bulge and cup lines abound, interspersed with sags and points and splays, oh my! For any-day use a well-fitted bra is essential. For more special occasions, sometimes bulges and otherwise not so well-fitted bras are called for.

Panties come in a variety of cuts. The most basic categories include something for every body type. A high or "French" cut leg can offer an opportunity to emphasize your hips while de-emphasizing your tummy. This style is also useful for generally lengthening the line of your body. A low rise waist can flatter your pelvic area and lengthen your mid section. A booty short style can flatter even the least endowed posterior without making an ample backside look any larger. Thong backs and g-strings are a wonderful way of flirting with nudity before baring it all. Also, it has been said that a wink from a thong back peeking out from of a pair of jeans can make even this mundane look seem sexy. If you are planning on spending more than a few hours in a given set of panties a natural fabric is a best choice for vaginal health.

A matching bra and panty set by the very merit of their matching can lend you a pretty, put-together feeling. Every woman has purchased at least one plastic wrapped multi pack of panties that are poorly constructed and don't match any bra they own. If you could use an extra spring in your step - please save these gems for laundry day!

If you regularly wear a skirt and hose, a garter belt can only augment your feeling of confidence. Some garter belts are even constructed with a built in waist cincher to reduce that tiny tummy bulge that challenges so many of us.

The ultimate beauty of a matching bra and panty set is that, dependent on its look and feel, it can be perfect for absolutely any occasion!

Garters and Hosiery

Garters are simple devices designed to hold up your hose. Some hosiery comes with tops which are lightly lined with a thin layer of clinging rubbery material. These are meant to preclude the necessity for a garter, but are not fool proof by any means. It is recommended that if your hose are not panty topped (and hopefully they aren't unless you're wearing a bodystocking!) - they should be secured with garters.

Garters may be a part of a belt or attached to another piece of lingerie such as in the case of a camisette or many bustiers. At times they will be part of dual function items such as mini skirts with sewn in panty pieces. Most garters are a set of four adjustable straps with a button at the end of each which clasps the hose top both front and back. More traditional garters are simple elastic rings which are covered in fine materials and can be quite decorative. This kind of garter is a must have for a bridal ensemble but could be both stylish and fun as any-day wear.

Hosiery is not as simple as a fine pair of stockings. Hosiery can cover as little as your hands or feet or as much as your entire body. The most common material for hosiery is nylon although the very finest items are spun from silk. Some classic styles included sheer, sheer with back seams and fishnet hose. For a modern sense of fashion, try a unique design, print or color. For instance, a plain black skirt suit is classically sexy with black sheer hose. Wear the same suit with a set of sheer lavender hose in a small swirling pattern, balancing the look with a sheer lavender scarf or gloves and you are the very picture of chic sophistication.

Camisoles and Chemises

If you are wearing a light colored or semi sheer to sheer blouse, a pretty camisole or chemise should be worn over your bra for modesty, decoration and a sense of elegance. Often, a hint of scrolling lace or a glimpse of shimmering satin beneath a fine blouse or sweater can produce as evocative a response as the baring of skin. A clearly visible bra can be embarrassing as well as inspire an unwanted impression of you in a daytime or office environment.

The materials used in the construction of these minimally restrictive undergarments are often silky or soft to the touch. A pleasant sensation next to your skin can only promote a sunny outlook filled with confidence and a smile!

A camisole or chemise without underwire can be converted to comfortable sleepwear, especially when constructed from natural fabrics. Camisoles are often sold in matching sets with an accompanying panty. For the less buxom girl, these are a very comfortable and exciting alternative to a traditional bra and panty set. Some chemises are also sold in a set and can easily be a fun and slinky midriff slimming alternative to the popular baby doll nightie.

In Conclusion

Any-day lingerie is defined by its comfort, daytime functionality, and its inherent convertibility to seductive bedroom wear. If your personal style is less involved than some of the more complicated lingerie styles on the market today, you should encourage yourself to experiment with classic cuts in fine and natural fabrics. Enable your feminine allure with a lingerie collection of basic pieces that possess the power to make any day better just by being under your clothes!

A corset is a well known and a tight undergarment worn to minimize the waistline and bring forth the hourglass feminine figure of a women. Corset size selection is very important. Generally, it should be smaller in size than the actual size of the waist. Ex for a 32-inch waist needs 28-inch corset. Intimate Clothing - Is it Bought For Him Or Her?

The first thing that needs to be clarified is the term Intimate Clothing. This relates to anything that is worn usually by a woman (depends on preferences) that is deemed sexy and alluring; this can be underwear, club wear, night wear or dance clothing. There are a whole range of different items that fall into the category and these are just a few of the types of clothing that can be considered within an intimate range. Back to the theme of the article, the first point to consider is who is buying the intimate clothing and why? There are a whole range of reasons as to why your partner, husband or boyfriend may be purchasing intimate clothing for you and then there is the possibility you may be buying some for yourself. If your partner is buying the intimate clothing either for a Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas or some other special occasion then nine times out of ten they will buy something that they would like to see you wearing. Therefore it could be the possibility that they are buying the clothing for their enjoyment, of course as well as yours.

On the other hand if the intimate clothing is being bought by yourself then there are two aspects to this, the first is you will buy something that you like and secondly you will buy something that you think your partner will like. For many women buying some sexy underwear will make them feel good, spice up the bedroom life and give them a self confidence boost. Most people like to look good and feel good and clothes are just one way this can be achieved, making sure both partners in a relationship enjoy what they are wearing both in and out the house will ensure the partnership keeps fresh and vibrant.

There are lots of different types of intimate clothing available, why not discuss with your partner what they like, what intimate clothes they may like to see you in and vice versa. By buying something a little risqué it could really make the difference in the bedroom and rekindle the sparks of passion and desire. If this is not discussed and your partner went out and bought some intimate clothing for you would they come back with items you like? If the answer to this question is no then some subtle hints may not be a bad idea and could save a great deal of embarrassment in the long term. In answer to the original question, there really is no actual answer so the best thing to do is make sure your partner knows what you do and don't like and then you probably won't go far wrong.
